Located to the Northeast of San Francisco Bay as you enter San Pablo Bay. Just north of the Sisters (two islands) on the west side of the open water. Depth will range between 4 and 20 feet depending on where you anchor. The anchorage is protected by the wind from the West.
China Camp is an interesting historic site, with many scenic hikes, so bring your dinghy. In its heyday 500 workers lived here, harvesting 3 million pounds of shrimp from the Bay each year, mainly for export to China. Discriminatory laws passed in the late 19th centure severely impacted the residents, and finally the shrimp all but disappeared when fresh water was diverted away from the San Pablo bay, and the water salinity increased.
Personally I anchor between the dock and Rat Island, there tends to be fewer boats.
Note: Beware NE winds, makes it VERY rolly!
